Work experience
Michael served for almost 30 years in the South African Police Service, Fire and Emergency Services. He has first-hand experience with assisting patients during times of severe trauma and life-threatening circumstances.
Academic credentials
Mike has a BA degree (majoring in Psychology and Sociology), BA Hons (Psych) degree Cum Laude and a M.Soc.Sci (Counselling Psychology) degree Cum Laude.
Mike has completed the Primary and Advanced Practicums in Rational-Emotional and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (REBT) through the Albert Ellis Institute and “Brain-based Therapy” with Professor Arden.
Mike obtained a Diploma in Schema Therapy through the Schema Therapy Institute of South Africa (STISA). He is currently a member of the International Schema Therapy Society and Counselling Psychology South Africa.
Psychology experience
Mike started his psychology practice at the Milnerton Medi Clinic in 2006. He also ran an itinerant practice at the haematology unit at Constantiaberg Mediclinic until 2009.
In 2008, Mike relocated his practice to Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital.
Mike also treats in-patients at West Beach psychiatric clinic.
Leadership
Mike has published a number of journal articles on psychoneuroimmunology and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He has lectured Unisa undergraduate and honours degrees programmes in research methodology, psychological assessment and theory of personality.
