Is it safe to visit the Rooms at Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital during Covid-19 crisis?
Yes, it is. The hospital has a thorough screening process carried out by nursing staff at the hospital main entrance to assess and screen all people entering the hospital. Please make allowance for delays when entering the hospital due to these screening processes. Social distancing and intensive hand hygiene are being adhered to. Only patients needing treatment are being allowed into the hospital. No visitors are currently being allowed to enter the hospital. Any high-risk patients are either turned away or asked to wait in their cars until they can be evaluated by a doctor. Any patients suspected of being COVID-19 positive or that are confirmed to be COVID-19 positive that need treatment are streamed separately and kept away from all other people in the hospital. The hospital and wards have been divided into Green (no COVID-19), Yellow (Suspected COVID-19) and Red (COVID-19 positive) areas. It is quite safe to move around the Green zones. Michael’s room is regularly wiped down with disinfectant, so it is far more likely that you will be exposed to COVID-19 when visiting a shop than when visiting the hospital.
